Team Beale Roberts had its first ICGP outing at Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France with Complog employee Leon Jeacock riding the newly built BSR Yamaha TZ350.
Leon whose regular ride is a BMW1000RR in BSB Superstock was in for a wild ride on what is basically an 80’s GP replica. A completely different approach is required and Leon adapted to it like a fish to water. Not only having a great time riding this iconic bike but also rapidly learning how much maintainance these little flyers need compared to modern day Superbikes.
After a few teething problems Leon was unfortunately well back on the grid in 16th place but after a blinding start that saw him 5th at the end of the first lap when a 50 pence (new) hose clip broke and he had to retire.
So with a total of 5 laps on this amazing 3 mile long circuit Leon started race 2 with a mountain to climb, another amazing start saw 4th place on lap one as he got to grips with the new circuit and bike Leon masterfully got through to second place when the race was red flagged.
To summarise after a roller coaster weekend and a 2000 mile round trip Team Beale Roberts will be ready for round 2 at Assen in June.
